Happy New Year! I pray that 2012 has started off well for you. January…a wonderful time of new beginnings and fresh starts! I gave up making the dreaded New Years Resolutions years ago, but I still tend to spend a little time in the first few weeks of each new year reflecting and looking at where I am in life, making adjustments in my priorities, as well as setting new goals that I feel are necessary in order for me to become a better person, wife, mother, friend, and servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. Looking back at that sentence, it sort of sounds like New Years Resolutions, doesn’t it? I guess it must make me feel better to call them “adjustments” and “goals” instead of New Years Resolutions. I don’t know…but whatever we decide to call it, it’s good to take inventory of our lives from time to time and make sure we are truly right where we need to be with God. Prayerfully finding a scripture verse to claim as my theme verse for the year is something else I do each January. That’s not always an easy thing to do because I like the verse to sum up all that is in my heart and be sort of like a road map that keeps me on track all year long. I write the verse in the front of my journal, I memorize it, and I pray that God would help me to live it out each day. This year, God quickly led me to this verse: “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you (Matthew 6:33).” I tried to resist that one. It’s one I’ve known for years. One I’ve heard quoted countless times and one I’ve quoted myself countless times. But God kept bringing me back to it. Then it became clear…God wants me simply to seek Him in 2012. Sit at His feet. Be faithful in His Word. Be diligent in prayer. Hear Him. Know Him better. Love Him more. Let Him lead. Let Him bring the things into my life that He wants there. Quit “doing” and simply let Him do in and through me. How about you? Is there something God is specifically dealing with you about as we are at the start of a new year? Just surrender and let Him have His way in your life. Our part is simply to seek Him. With God’s help, that is what my life is going to look like in 2012.
Our week in South Carolina was just incredible! All 12 songs for our upcoming CD, Created to Worship, came together really well and we are excited about every single one of them! The graphic work is underway, as is the mixing and mastering process. I’m holding to my release date of early March but seriously believe we are going to beat that date. If you are our “friend” on Facebook, you were able to keep up with our day to day happenings while we were in the recording studio. We posted some pictures and even a few videos! If you are not a “Facebooker”, you should still be able to click the link below and access our page. It is set to be a public page and should be accessible to anyone. I hope I’m right about that!! Try it and let me know if you can’t open it.
